The bar is open on Saturday and Sunday evenings and all weekday evenings
when a match is being played on the Common (which from May through to
the end of July is virtually every night). The club has started a
programme of pavilion refurbishment; the building has been re-roofed and
a new groundsman's store has been built. A new scoreboard has been
installed, generously donated by Ernie Tyerman, a past player and
ex-President of the Club.
We
now run 6 Saturday and 2 Sunday sides playing in the Hertfordshire
Cricket League and the Slazenger Chess Valley League respectively.
At
Colts level we run league sides at Under 9, Under 10, Under 11,Under
12, Under 13, Under 14 and Under 15 age groups with a number of Colts
playing at County, Area or District level. We also run a Minis section
for Under 8's (who play the occasional friendly) and a Girl's section,
which is open to all ages
In recognition of
our work with young cricketers and our work in the community we
accredited by ECB and Sport England with 'Clubmark' status and have been
designated as a 'Focus' club.
Harpenden Cricket
Club was established in 1863 and we have played on Harpenden Common
since that date. Over the years many changes have, not surprisingly,
taken place including amalgamating with Harpenden Ferndale CC and
Harpenden Wednesday CC.
