It's a been a while since our last update but I am delighted to report that we now have everything in place to commence the refurbishment works to the Pavilion and our chosen contractor, local builders Claridge & Hall, are scheduled to commence work on Wednesday next week. At that point the club will become inaccessible for all members.
By way of recap, we received confirmation of the £50,000 grant from Sport England before Christmas and, subject to receiving Secretary of State’s consent to the project, we had intended to commence work in early January. Frustratingly the decision was delayed until last week which has pushed the timings back more than we intended. But having met with C&H and our project manager today, the revised programme should still enable us to complete the works in readiness for the first league game of the 2019 season and on that basis we have decided to proceed straightaway.
Given the delays, the timings are clearly tighter than we had hoped and it is possible there may some disruption at the beginning of the season. However, owing to numerous factors, most significantly that the Sport England grant is only available until October, we have taken the view that the best course of action is to proceed now and that any short-term disruptions are worth accommodating in the long-term interests of the Club.
I am sure this comes as good news and we will be providing regular updates as the works progress.
With best wishes,
